Calendar access, stated plainly

Nudge asks for full access to your calendar, and it is fair to want to know why before you grant it. Its entire purpose is adding your alerts to events you created somewhere else, such as the built-in Calendar app, and an app that cannot see existing events cannot do that. Nudge reads your events in order to attach alerts to them. It does not copy them anywhere, and it has nowhere to copy them to.

If you decline, the app still works. It falls back to a create-only mode where events you make inside Nudge get your full alert set as they are saved.

Information the app stores

Nudge stores your alert profiles and rules, your boards and the tasks, steps, due dates and notes you put on them, and your appearance and notification preferences. It also keeps a local record of which events it has added alerts to, which is what powers the "Is Nudge working?" screen and the button that removes every alert it added.

Your calendars and their events are not stored by Nudge. They are read from the calendar database that iOS already maintains on your device.

Where that information stays

All of it stays locally on your device. To power the Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, a small summary is shared with the widget through a private app group on the same device. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is shared with the developer. Nudge has no account to sign in to and makes no network requests of its own.

Changes Nudge makes to your calendar

Nudge writes alerts onto your events. Because those alerts live on the events themselves, they sync wherever that event already syncs, through the account you added in the iOS Settings app, under that provider's own privacy policy. That is also why they keep working on your Mac and Watch, and after you delete Nudge.

Nudge never changes an event without your knowledge. On first launch it asks, with a real count, whether to apply your alerts to events already on your calendar, and does nothing to them until you answer. Settings lists every event it has changed and offers one control that removes every alert Nudge added, leaving your own alerts untouched.

Reminders

If you use boards, Nudge can mirror their tasks into Apple Reminders so their alarms are fired by the system. Those reminders live in your Reminders app on your device and sync through your own Apple account, exactly as any reminder you create yourself does.

Information collected by the developer

The app does not collect personal information from you. If you email support, the information you choose to include in that message is used only to respond to you.

Analytics, ads, and tracking

Nudge does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking technologies, and does not sell personal data. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.

Purchases

The optional one-time Nudge Plus upgrade is handled by Apple through the App Store. Nudge does not see or store your payment information; purchase validation is performed on your device using Apple's StoreKit.

Notifications

Alerts on events are fired by the system from the events themselves. Any notifications Nudge schedules on its own are scheduled locally on your device, and everything can be turned off at any time in Settings and in your device's system settings.

Children's privacy

Nudge is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app changes. If data practices change materially, this page will be updated before the new version is released.
